A Different Kind of Bar
In this era of million-dollar builds, three of us, veteran industry hands, came together to open a venue that focuses on hospitality and community.
Following our motto "Don't Try" (C. Bukowski), we chose reusability, up-cycling, and good old fashioned hustle to build an eclectic space hidden away on the top level of a Sago Street shophouse. The programme features a weekly rotating menu of cocktails created from produce found in the locality along with some simple tasty bites.
We're commemorating our weekly cocktail menus with our first collection of Sago House NFTs, representing each of the drinks served in our first year. Every week since we've opened, we've churned out an original menu of new cocktails across six categories: strong up, strong down, daisies, highballs, sours and tropical drinks. Once the week was over, those six cocktails would be gone forever. Until now.
Each of the ~300 drinks is available as an ERC-721 token on the Ethereum blockchain. As the exclusive holder of your drink NFT, you alone can order your drink at the bar. Whilst you have the NFT you alone can claim that drink, forever.
Sago House sits at the intersection of Singapore's vibrant hospitality scene and the wider Southeast Asian cultural landscape. Our regulars include everyone from local crypto enthusiasts to regional travellers passing through the city.
The Indo-Pacific region offers endless inspiration for our rotating menu. We've drawn on everything from traditional Indonesian ingredients to dive-bar classics reimagined with tropical twists. Some of our bartenders have picked up enough colloquial Indonesian from regulars to banter across the bar, while others swap stories about dive sites in Bali and the Philippines during quieter nights.
That cross-pollination of cultures, interests, and obsessions is what makes the space feel alive. We're not trying to be everything to everyone. We're just a bar where interesting people end up talking to each other.
Our Bukowski-inspired motto isn't about laziness. It's about authenticity. We built this place with what we had, not what we wished we had. The result is something genuine that couldn't exist any other way.
In an industry obsessed with trends and Instagram moments, we're using blockchain technology to create something lasting. Your NFT isn't just a collectible. It's a perpetual claim on a drink that would otherwise be lost to time.
We're located at 40B Sago Street, Singapore, on the top level of a shophouse in Chinatown. Open Monday to Sunday, 6PM to 2AM. No reservations required for the bar, but you can book a table if you prefer.
